RUIN: Money, Ego and Deception at FTX

Bloomberg Originals faced the daunting task of producing a feature-length documentary on Sam Bankman-Fried and the crash of FTX – a story that unfolded as one of the largest financial collapses in history. The challenge was to capture a developing news story in real-time. And make it look great.


In mid-November 2022, the Head of Bloomberg Originals approached us with the idea of a feature documentary. Within weeks, we had negotiated and secured a director, DP, and film crews in six countries. By mid-December, we found ourselves in Nassau, chasing SBF as he headed into the Bahamian court house.

Fast forward 10 months, Bloomberg Originals debuted the feature-length documentary, just as SBF's trial began in New York City. The documentary captured the collapse through interviews with journalists and central players in the rise of digital assets, offering a comprehensive and timely look at the events surrounding the downfall of FTX.

WHAT WE DID:
* International production in Bahamas, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Hong Kong
* Management of contracts with on-camera talent and Bloomberg legal team
* Archival licensing of over 900 pieces of content from over 20 different media companies
* Post production management, including coordination of an original score
* Facilitation of a nimble and efficient production timeline, producing a feature film in less than a year from conception

CÎROC Limonata

After a successful collaboration on the Cîroc Honey Memon campaign in Los Angeles in 2022, Cîroc's design agency, Force Majeure, enlisted TNC’s services this past fall for an even more complex and spectacular campaign – this time in Capri, Italy.

The logistics were complex, as Capri prohibits vehicles and can only be accessed by ferry or helicopter from Naples. Despite this challenge, TNC managed to coordinate a crew of 60 in less than three weeks, casting principal talent from across Europe, securing a DP and set designer from Milan, and even tracking down the exact tanned, local Napolitano legend the creative director envisioned for the campaign.

The end result was an elevated, above-the-line front campaign and 30-second TV spot that aired during the 2024 Grammy Awards.
